Online Applications in the prescribed format are invited for the Total 48 posts of  Assistant Professor under 4-tier system in Pay Band with AGP of Rs. 8,000/- for regular & Rs.6000/- for contract in various departments listed below of NIT, Silchar from eligible candidates, fulfilling the essential qualification and having the requisite experience :
Assiatant Professors in disciplines :
01) Civil Engg : 13 posts
02) Mechanical Engg. : 06 posts
03) Electrical Engg. : 08 posts
04) Electronics & Communication Engg. : 05 posts
05) Computer Sc. & Engg. : 03 posts
06) Electronics & Instrumentation Engg. : 04 post
07) Mathematics : 02 post
08) Physics : 02 post
09) Humanities & Social Science : 01 post
10) Management Studies : 04 post
Qualification : 1st class Post Graduate with Ph.D in relevant discipline & very good academic record.
Experience : (i) 3 years post Ph.D or 6 years after M.Tech. Not counting Ph.D enrollment period in teaching/research/industry (for AGP Rs.8000/-). (ii) 1 year post Ph.D (for AGP Rs.7000/-)
Essential Requirements : (i) 2 years papers in SCI journals outside Ph.D work. One ongoing sponsored project for candidates from academia. Two experimental or computational projects added to teaching laboratories where appropriate (for AGP Rs.8000/-).
(ii) One paper accepted for publication in SCI journal (for AGP Rs.7000/-).
Desirable Requirements : (i) One Ph.D supervision ongoing, One patent, Experience in industry or R&D lab of repute, M.Tech., M.Sc. or B.Tech. project supervision on live industry problems (for AGP Rs.8000/-)
(ii) 2 papers in SCI journal or 1 patent, may be based on Ph.D work (for AGP Rs.7000/-)
(iii) One publication in SCI journal (for AGP Rs. 6000/-).
